Improve Your Laptop Usage

When it comes to using technology there are some guidelines you should actively follow. Below are some important pointers for you to take a note of while using your laptop.

SHORTCUTS: For ease of use, group programs into folders depending upon their type or make shortcuts for the programs that you use often. This not only saves time but also makes it easier to work.

BOOT FASTER: To make the laptop boot faster, remove unwanted programs from start up. For this -  "Press Win+R > type : msconfig > Press Enter > select Startup tab". Here uncheck all the programs that you do not need or use at startup, like Adobe etc and when you are done press OK.

UN-INSTALLATION : Uninstall any application you do not use anymore.

BACKUP : Occasionally, take a backup of your data on a portable hard drive.

CLEANLINESS : Cleaning your laptop occasionally, especially from the ports will prevent it from heating up.

POWER MANAGEMENT : Turn off Bluetooth and WiFi when not in use and even decrease brightness to save more power.

DISCONNECT : Remove external devices like optical drives and pen drives when you do not need them.

SHUT DOWN : When the laptop is not in use it is better to shut it down rather than putting it on sleep mode.

CARRY SAFE : It is better to buy a good laptop bag instead of risking it getting drenched or falling down.

Add Slideshows of Your Picasa Album in Your Websites or Blogs

You can boost up your blog or website by embedding a slideshow, an album or an image into your website. You will not need to write a even a single line of code. All it takes is a small piece of HTML that you can paste in the source code for your blog or website. Here's how to get it:

Slideshow

You can embed a flash slideshow of any Picasa web album. It'll be automatically updated when you make changes to your album.

Follow these steps to embed a slideshow:

• On the My Photos page, click your album.
• Click Link to this album on the right-hand side.
• Click Embed Slideshow.

• Choose your desired settings, such as image size, captions, and auto-play.
• After selecting your settings, copy the resulting HTML code (Ctrl-C).
• Paste the HTML in the source code of your blog or website (Ctrl-V).

An Album

When you embed an album in your site, the album cover will display. Visitors who click the cover image will then be taken to view the album in Picasa Web Albums.

Follow these steps to embed an album:

1. On the My Photos page, click your album.
2. Click Link to this album on the right-hand side.
3. Copy the HTML (Ctrl-C) in the 'Paste HTML to embed in website' field.
4. Paste the HTML (Ctrl-V) in the source code of your blog or website.

An Image

Follow these steps to embed a Picasa Web Albums image in your site.

1. On the My Photos page, click your album.
2. Click the photo you'd like to embed.
3. Click Link to this Photo on the right sidebar.
4. Set the following preferences:

• Select your preferred image size.
• Select 'Hide album link' to remove a link to the containing album, which is displayed by default with the image.
• Select 'Image only (no link)' to get the image URL by itself, with no link back to Picasa Web Albums

5. Copy the HTML (Ctrl-C) in the 'Embed image' field on the right-hand side.
6. Paste the HTML (Ctrl-V) in the source code of your blog or website.

A Simple Computer Trick To Annoy Your Friends

No matter how many times you click OK, the message will never go away! How cool is that!

This is a funny and easy trick to annoy your friends and family members by (harmlessly) messing with their computers. This one is a simple batch file that makes a message box pop up that says anything you want. 

Step 1: The Batch File
Open notepad (Under Start > All Programs > Accesories > Notepad)
Copy and paste these lines into Notepad:

@echo off
:top
msg * Insert your message here
goto top

Be sure to delete "insert your message here" and replace it with your own message!

Step 2: Saving the File
Now this is important. All the notepad file are saved as ".txt" files but you have to make a change. You will have to save it as a batch file instead of a text file. For this simply write '.bat' after the filename. For example you can keep the file name - name.bat or anything.bat. Type the name of your file into the "File Name" box, and be sure to end it with '.bat'. Write '.bat' instead of '.txt' after the name.

Now save it anywhere you want to.

Step 3: The Funny Part
If you click on the batch file (which should look like a box with a gear inside it) the message should pop up. It will only go away if you restart the computer.

To begin it automatically when you (or someone else) logs in, copy the file Go to "My Computer" and then go to:

Local Disk > Documents and Settings > (Username of Person you want to annoy) > Start Menu > Programs > Startup.

Paste the batch file into the 'Startup' folder.

Now it will run whenever they log in and the person will never be able to find it! Mwahahaha! :D
